South-East and Dawei
You will discover Hpa An caves, Mawlamyine and its famous pagodas, and will finish your tour on the stunning beaches of Dawei Peninsula ! A perfect tour for nature lovers !
From Yangon, it takes about 6 hours to reach Hpa An, in southeastern of Burma. You will pass through interesting small villages of Thaton. Depending on the time of arrival in Hpa An, you will visit Rock Kyauk Kalat. A magnificent view of the surroundings can be inspired on the top of the Rock Kyauk Kalat.
In the morning you will go to the base of Mount Zwekabin and you can visit the Lumbini Garden, a set of Buddha statues lined up. Then you will visit the cave of Saddar. After the first huge room, you will explore the small tunnels and you will reach the exit which gives access to a beautiful lake. In the afternoon, you will continue the visit of the caves around Hpa An, such as Yathaypyan, Kawgoon, etc…
In the morning you will leave Hpa An and take a private boat to sail the Thanlwin River to Mawlamyine (about 5 hours boat ride). U Na Auk Monastery is on the way back to Mawlamyine. After arriving at Mawlamyine, you can go to the surrounding hills that overlook the city to admire the sunset and visit U Zina pagoda.
After a discovery of the center of Mawlamyine including several ancient buildings and its market, you will take the new bridge that leads to Bilu Kyun Island. There are several villages to discover, in the middle of the plantations and rice fields. It will be the opportunity to discover the local life and make nice photos of countryside.
You will visit of the monastery of Kyaik kami (floating pagoda), located at the mouth of the river, then possible to stop at the local beach of Setsé. Then you will go to Mudon where you can admire the largest lying Buddha Wein Sein in the world, about 200 meters long, but still under construction. Then there will be about 4 hours of country road to reach Ye.
Ye is a small town totally away from tourist sites because of location and complicated access. You will discover the few sites of the city, and then go in the countryside to see rivers, plantations, etc. There are also a few beaches within a 1 hour drive, but not as beautiful as those in the south.
The journey from Ye to Dawei takes about 5 hours. The road is still pretty bad, however still beautiful with several villages in which you can stop according to your desires. You will arrive in Dawei in the afternoon. Transfer to your hotel in town or at Maungmagan beach.
After a visit to lively Dawei market, you will discover the pristine beaches of South Dawei. The roads are winding and dusty, but you cross pretty villages and the beaches on arrival are exceptional, totally deserted.
For this 2nd day in the Dawei Peninsula, you will discover as you wish other beaches, the countryside and its many plantations, or the abundant jungle in which small treks are possible.
You will take a flight back to Yangon according to the timings. Depending on your arrival time, transfer to your hotel and leisure time to visit Yangon.
