Introduction

Located about 8 hours drive south of Yangon (300 km) and at the mouth of the river Thanlwin, Moulmein is the capital of the state Mon. active port exporting rice and wood, this city was during the colonial period (1827-1852) the country’s administrative center. From that time remained the old colonial buildings and the old wooden bus always used as main means of transport in these quiet streets. The sites around Moulmein are numerous and very little tourism.
