Mandalay was the last royal capital of Burma. The atmosphere in Mandalay is still very traditional and its 150 monasteries accommodate nearly 70 000 Buddhist monks. Since the reopening of the road towards China, Mandalay has become a busy trading city, where past meets with the present. In Mandalay you can discover many temples and splendid pagodas, as well as the paper workshops which produce temple offerings...Unfortunately there are no Gulliver’s favorites in Mandalay. Despite their lack of charm the hotels listed are satisfactory.
